Natural Lighting with Amber
Hitting my 10th post with this one. Since I started this site in where I can upload and share my work with the world; its always a nice feel to look back at recent works and kind of have a mental thought to myself seeing how far I've came along since starting. I mean; its been 5 months, yet it feels way more shorter like if it were 2 or 3 but time moves so fast that I can never keep track of it no more. But anyways let me get started here. Working with Amber was a treat for me (no don't get the wrong idea here). I have seen work she had uploaded on her Instagram from other photographers. She's worked with some fantastic photographers and I thank her for giving me the opportunity to have worked with her. I am always influenced to do my shooting from big name photographers. One of them being Stephen Vanasco because he is the one who sucked my mind in to the world of photography. Ever since I went to his V/SUAL opening back in 2014 if I'm not mistaken, and I'm always reading his most recent blogs and sets on his website. His work with not just models, but his street photos are wonderful as well. The way he sees things from his own perspective and how he doesn't shoot from the ordinary. I try to imitate his composition in my own way because shooting something simple is cool and all, but for me it doesn't suffice. I need to see movement, shadows, different shapes and patterns using my surroundings; not just head shots and forced poses. It just stretches my mind and imagination to see things differently from my point of view and then share and talk about why I shot that particular thing. What was it that I felt at that particular moment. When working with Amber, the dopest thing about her is the way she maintains her composure when shooting. I'd let her know that I don't like to give command when it comes to poses because i suck at giving command lol. But I let her know that she just had to create movements and try to feel calm as possible. She had no problem; in fact, she listens to her music and she would be in rhythm to what she listens to. She'd dance, sing and it was a nice feel because I'd get to mumbling with the song or bob my head to the beat a bit. I went along with both Black & White/Colored images because each set we did had a different feel coming from every angle, so some didn't come out looking right. It was also my first time using FD Studios over in DTLA. They have nice stages in which I'd like to try later on. But we used Hill 1 which had the bed and window light which created the shadows from the window frames. Then we also used Hill 6 which had like a Red Sofa and nice shiny floors for reflective shadows and such. Like always, stay tuned for the next post, and Enjoy!!! -BE
